Deuteronomy 11:18

You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

When we “lay up” the word of God in our heart and in our soul, it a command to store up the treasure of God’s gifts to us in our hearts and souls. When God’s treasure is what we value most in our hearts and minds we become His Own. Our direction and perspectives shift according to what we treasure most.

We are asked to gather what God has given us and bind it as a sign on our hands. When we bind something up as a sign, it creates an imprint. The word imprint means “to engrave”. We are miraculously and wondrously “signed” by our Creator as He put His Spirit in each of us when he formed us.

It is His joyous desire that we reveal His word, which is The Spirit of Truth. If we live according to The Spirit of Truth then our hearts bear the likeness of His image and our actions (our hands, the instruments of His workmanship) would bear the fruit of His righteousness. We are (“binded” by the signing on our hands) bound by the Truth.

The frontlets between our eyes become guardians of Light, our armor and abiding protection as we walk forward as His own.

Hebrews 10:16

This is the agreement that I will set up and conclude with them after those days, says the Lord: I will imprint My laws upon their hearts, and I will inscribe them on their minds.

The new covenant (Christ lived to give the new covenant, died sacrificially to atone for the sin of all mankind and was resurrected ) is the agreement that we receive upon our hearts when the gift of faith is received. Then by the power of The Holy Spirit, the testament, or Promise of Salvation is inscribed upon the hearts of believers. The laws of the new covenant are inscribed on the innermost thoughts and understanding. By a process of sanctification by faith, the believer grows in understanding and relationship to God.

Psalm 111.5

He has given food and provision to those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him; He will remember His covenant forever and imprint it.

Nehemiah 3:14

And I provided for the wood offering at appointed times, and for the firstfruits. O my God, remember me for good and imprint me!
